Besides the design of the station building, the project also calls for the urban planning and design rearrangement of the 9 km² site as well as a coherent traffic concept. Apart from normal station utilisation, the traffic hub serves as a transfer station for several underground railway lines and a Transrapid station. To efficiently control the transfer relations, the passenger flows are dispersed on several levels.
