OBERMEYER won the urban design for the Daze Lake area in Changsha.
On October 19, 2020, OBERMEYER won the urban design for the Daze Lake area in Wangcheng District, Changsha, China.
Daze Lake is known as the last urban wetland in Changsha. The design scope is from the Third Ring Road on the south and the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway on the north. The Line 4 subway passes along the southwest side of the site. The total area and design area of this district are about 667.7 hectares and 468.5 hectares respectively.
With lush grass and water, Daze Lake is an ideal habitat for about 135 species of birds, which almost are endangered. Therefore, the protection of Daze Lake is of great significance.
In this context, developing the urban landscape and protecting the natural environment of this wetland at the same time is becoming a major challenge faced by planners.
